Cut Sugar from Your Diet in 5 Easy Steps

BodyDetox Sure, you can cut sugar out of your diet in a few easy steps, but it’s going to take some willpower and determination on your part. However, just knowing that sugar can be toxic to your health and wellness is a good way to get that kick-start to a sugar-free lifestyle!

Did you know that sugar (as most of us know it) is not a natural product? Unless you’re eating raw cane sugar, you can pretty much believe that the sugar you’re eating is white, refined, and filled with empty calories. Even worse, just about every product you buy in the grocery store (unless you’re shopping organic) is loaded with sugars. What’s the big deal? Other than the empty calories, which pack on pounds, did you know that sugar can throw your body chemistry out of kilter? How about those mood swings and headaches? Most women blame those on PMS. However, sugar is often the culprit, as well as being a leading cause of PMS in the first place. Allergies, chronic fatigue, bloating, gas, weight problems and more can be laid right at sugar’s doorstep. Read more

I’ve been getting your newsletters for a few months and really love them. I also bought your Seven Day Sugar Free plan and, while far from sugar free, I and my family are increasingly on the right track. Thanks for being a great motivator!
I am a heart patient (born with congenital murmur, have an artificial valve and have literally returned from the dead so I’m much better and must continue improving) and I have been interested in good nutrition (subscribed to Prevention in the 70s), yoga and a healthy lifestyle most of my life.
Along with finding YOU last year, for which I again express my heartfelt (!) gratitude, I was introduced to therapeutic grade essential oils. Maybe you are already a member of Young Living Essential Oils. If not, I encourage you to learn more about them (and ask that if you do decide to order their products or “sign up” please allow me to be your sponsor).
You can learn more about these products from many websites, including:
    http://www.youngliving.com
    aromatherapy4u.wordpress.com
Of course, you can also order or sign-up directly from these locations, but then I do not benefit from (perhaps) introducing you to these amazing products (just reply to me if you wish, I don’t have my own website).
I live in a small village in northern Germany, which has many benefits but putting together a healthier lifestyle requires some extra creativity. Fortunately, I am an extremely creative type of person — so much so my family jokes that I never cook the same dish twice (they exaggerate somewhat).
Some of the simple pleasures we enjoy are homemade granola, which I make each month fresh (it’s delicious and if you’d like I’d be happy to share my recipe), homemade whole-grain/honey muffins and homemade salad dressings with cold-pressed oils (check out “Flo’s Tart and Tangy” in the New Recipes from Moosewood Restaurant Cookbook!).
Since reading your posts and e-book, I am eating a LOT more fresh raw foods (don’t yet have a juicer). Every morning when I pack the kids lunches, I fix all of us plenty of fresh raw munchies to snack on until lunch. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before, but I used to pack a great morning “feedbag” for everyone else and forget myself, only to get sidetracked and tempted mid-morning. But not anymore! With a bowl of fresh fruits or veggies on the counter, I already know what I want and it’s already ready!
Also (and again I THANK YOU!) I am now dedicated to a rest time or evening fast that typically runs from about 7:00 p.m. until — until I’m ready to do a few sun salutations and drink some fresh squeezed lemon juice.

    Hi Nancy,

The book 7 day sugar is absolutely WONDERFUL!! I read through it in one night. I couldn’t stop reading. It has such good advice to follow. I started the program real slow because I didn’t have everything on hand but I wanted to start. The one thing I really am having a hard time with is the Green Food. I really don’t like the taste but know it is good for me. Today was Super Bowl Sunday and I went off the program this afternoon and haven’t felt good all night. I feel so good when I eat right. I’m dong this program for a couple of reasons. The main is to get healthy. I have had elevated (high) liver enzymes for about 10 years. I have had biopsies and they can’t find anything…….which is good!! I had found another program on the internet last year and it is drinking alot of carrot juice and detoxing. When I followed the program the numbers went down. I like your recipes which sound real good. What I’ve been doing with your program for now is eating alot of salads and having my smoothie in the morning. When I get the rest of the vitamins, I plan on doing the program completely.

    Thanks for caring!!
    Linda
