I agree that sugar is addictive, but saying that: “In the long term, it can lead to Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia and depression” – seems terrifying but also simplifying the causes of Alzheimer.
Scientifically speaking – the cause(s) for this rather complicated disease is/are not quite clear yet.

I don’t eat sugar, used raw honey instead – for teas etc. I still have cravings for sweets, but found that eating a small piece of 95% chocolate (only Wal-mart carries that high a percentage of cocoa) stops that craving. Because of the high percentage I can’t eat more than one square inch of it, and even that – needs to be nibbled because of the strong taste. It does fulfill sugar cravings.

A little self discipline doesn’t hurt either. Not everyone has an addictive personality, and the ones that do..can’t be scared out of it, no matter what. Hopefully people are open to education and are willing to adjust their intake of crappy fillings and eat food instead.

Most people don’t have the time to juice in the morning – cleaning and preparing the vegetables takes too much time. I found that a glass of water with a “shot” of organic Apple cider Vinegar – from Braggs – serves very well and takes the edge of the morning food cravings. There are vinegar books written which can tell you more about this wonder food.

There are ways to get around the sugar cravings by not buying pre-pared foods. Not only do they have loads of sugars, but they also have a huge amount of salt for preservation – in it.

I do have salt in my household, but I use it (sea salt) for facial scrubs, not for food. Eating without salt lets me taste the food itself, not the salt. It’s amazing how good a vegetable can taste without it. Most veggies have a sweet taste – if…they are fresh and haven’t been stored in the supermarket for a while.
A good educational film is Food,Inc on DVD (Amazon.com – less than $10) it should help people to make at least a few changes.
