Tuesday, December 01, 2015

This is a beautiful herbal blend that will relax you in times of stress. Keep your liver clean and your adrenals balanced by drinking this soothing tea.

Dandelion and burdock root have bitter principles and are classic liver-cleansing herbs. Ginger root helps to move stagnant energy in the liver, and is also a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. Licorice root is an adrenal balancer, which is very helpful in times of stress.

When simmered together, these roots make a delicious tea that can be enjoyed daily during your cleansing program.

1 Tbsp. dried licorice root
2 Tbsp. dried burdock root
2 Tbsp. dandelion root
1 Tbsp. freshly chopped ginger
1 tsp. fennel seeds
3 to 4 cups water

Leafy herbs like oat straw or red clover

Place all ingredients into a medium-sized stainless steel or glass pot; cover and bring to a gentle boil.
Immediately reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove from heat and add any leafy herbs such as oat straw or red clover.

Steep 10 to 20 minutes more with the lid on if you added any extra herbs.

Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a wide-mouth mason jar. Add raw honey, if desired. Store any unused portions in the refrigerator in a covered jar.
