Your greenhouse looks amazing!! You had a wonderful weekend to plant. I have some herbs in the garden, parsley, thyme, and lavender, from last year but am planning to expand this year. I am unable to grow inside due to the fact my cat eats all my plants I have ever brought in. So I plan to buy plants that are all ready started. I have only started gardening three years ago and last year was my first attempt at herbs. I feel like I have no idea what I am doing, but everything is growing and I keep watering. So far so good!!!

Holy Moly your video is inspirational. I live in NYC and have a small balcony where I grow herbs. Looking forward to the day where I can have my own greenhouse. Thank you Nancy.

Hi Nancy, I wish I had a green house too.
I’m renting a very small lake house and all my windows have plants, indoor flowering plants.
I don’t use curtains! lol
What I do is grow Health Kick Tomatoes in big pots outside.
I also grow some herbs but not many.
I have one strawberry basket but can’t dig up the yard. Darned it.
I like chives and parsley.
What do you use Cilentro with in your cooking?
I am vegetarian mostly.
I live with my two beautiful Australian Shepherds and wish we could
find one intelligent man.
I dream of moving to rural Vermont.
I have my youngest son who lives up there with his little family.
I am stuck here.
I mean what can you do on SSI.
Yes, I like your ideas and your greenhouse too.

Nancy,
Where do you live? We are in Fl and our season for a lot of greens seems to be over. We have tomatoes, herbs and green peppers now.
Thanks for the video. We are starting small as well with just a little space in the back yard.
We also compost, so it will be interesting to see your next video.
When you went out of the green house door, you had “mounds” in your outside garden. Were those all dirt mounds?

I have been reading on growing my own sprouts and herbs, this would be the ideal method for me since I live in a small apartment. I love your set-up and it looks fantastic and it must smell wonderful with all that greenery.

Nancy. really liked your video on gardening and your green house. Thank you for sharing that.
I have a question. I am 61, in good health, run/walk 3 / 4 times a week. however I am gaining weight. We eat everything organic, no junk, no eating out.. make our own bread from ground flour. My stomach is getting bigger.. I am not running as hard as I had been, just too hard on the joints.. so I am thinking that is the problem . I just do not know what to do. we have a very good green drink in the morning and then we have a late lunch and that is it. I am not sure what to do.. any suggestions?

Hi Janice, We live in Bancroft, Ontario. The reason for the Dirt mounds is for Water irrigation! I am experimenting with few things this year. Later this week will I’ll talk about composting.

Nancy your greenhouse looks fabulous, I’m so jealous! We’re attempting our first organic vegetable garden this weekend. I really hope everything grows as I’m a complete rooky at this. I got some transplants from a local organic farm and the rest are seeds so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Any advice on the type of soil mix and/or fertilizers that are organic? I’ve also tried growing sunflower sprouts and wheat grass but it didn’t work so well. Since you’re an expert can you tell me what the best type of soil to use and is it worth buying Sproutmaster trays or can I just use regular plastic greenhouse trays? We’re really enjoying our wheat grass and green juice every morning so now I want to learn to grow them myself as well as the veggies! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, your videos are so helpful!!!

Hi Nancy,
Everything looks fabulous in your video. The weather is certainly co-operating and allowing you early access into the garden. You’ll be enjoying the fruits (or shall I say vegetables) of your labour very soon.
Looking forward to seeing you next month.

As a fellow gardener, I am quite impressed with your gardening skills…and envy envy envy your greenhouse. This should be a great summer for gardening!

Great idea to show everyone how to start your own garden. Tell us also what your soil
consist of (type of mix). Even show us how to start seeds and transplant plants properly.
When do you start seeding in your greenhouse? Like to know about your compost and
new irrigation. Provide healthy recipes for greens you grow eg. mustard greens…sounds
delicious. I also love to eat arugula. I built a salad table and grow my own arugula.
Everyone can google “how to build a salad table?” for those of us with space limitations.

Hello Renee, I’m sure you’ll do really well with your garden…. Re: soil for herbs and other seeds use organic potting mix. Go to any local garden centre.
I mix one part peat moss with three parts soil!
Re: sunflower sprouts, you can use plastic 14×18 tray, cafeteria style or just buy garden plastic trays at the garden centre.
to fertilize herbs and veggies in the greenhouse i use Liquid Seaweed and Ocean Water: http://www.ocean-grown.com/
Thanks for you feedback.

Hi Nancy,
Enjoyed the episode on the greenhouse. I have strawberries and tomatoes out in containers. Greenhouse maybe in the future. You have inspired me to try herbs. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hi Nancy, let me just say as I was messing with my herbs today and planning a garden for the fall as I was not able to do one this spring, I was feeling very cautious not to bite off more than I could chew, maybe a little anxious even. So then, Watching your video inspired much more confidence today and for that I truly thank you!
What a blessing! I’ll be looking for ward to the one on compost too. Again Thank you so much! Very timely.

Hi Nancy
Thanks for the video. Some herbs or plants that you have I have never heard of, I will have to educate myself on them. I have a guarden this year we just finished it. I planted many things still more to come. I bought an organic fertilizer I hope it will be okay.
