Sprouts: Growing Your Own Sprouts Part 4

Sports Drink: Natural Electrolyte

When we are active we lose a lot of needed nutrients in the body.

~In order to healthy , stay hydrated and have enough fuel to continue with the day we need to be able to replenish what we lost. Electrolytes generally have three functions in our body: they provide us with essential minerals; they control the osmosis of water between the compartments of our body; and they help to maintain the balance of acid that we require for normal cellular activity.

~You don’t need to go out and buy any expensive sports drinks. Chances are you have all you need right at home in your kitchen. This drink will give the healthy boost you need without additive and Sugar.
~Squeeze one whole lemon into a cup or blender. Lemons naturally contain electrolytes. The ones you just lost during the workout are now regained.
~Add 2 flat tablespoons of sea salt. The sea salt contains various minerals needed by the body. These minerals are lost through sweat and fat burn during a workout.

Chia Seeds: An Ancient Nutritional Powerhouse

Chia seeds have:

  • Twice the protein of any other seed or grain
  • Five times the calcium of milk
  • Boron, a trace mineral that helps transfer calcium into your bones
  • Two times the amount of potassium as bananas
  • Three times the reported antioxidant power of blueberries
  • Three times more iron than spinach
  • Hight amounts of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids.
  • You may want to consider adding some chia seeds to your dessert the next time you eat a sweet treat. Chia seeds slow the impact of sugars on the system creating a physical barrier between carbohydrates and the digestive enzymes that break them down, which slows the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar. That means the blood-sugar levels are kept more balanced which is a great benefit to those who are diabetic.

  • Juicing: Drink Your Troubles Away

Most people hop out of bed in the morning and grab a coffee – often sweetened and thickened with cream – then look around the kitchen for more sweetness, figuring that’s the energy boost they need to start the day. Unfortunately, for most of us, that craving for “sweet” doesn’t leave much room for vegetables. And chances are, if you’re not starting your day with a sweetened coffee and a doughnut, you’re grabbing a big glass of fruit juice. Why aren’t we thinking vegetables instead?

    “Sugar” acts like a poison!

Sugar strips the body of calcium, taps mineral reserves, causes depression and obesity, and leads to cellular death.
