<p>Sea vegetables are generally sold in dehydrated form, and if they&#8217;re stored in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, such as a kitchen cupboard or pantry, they will keep indefinitely. While it cleanses your internal organs and systems, it also promotes  <strong>weight loss,</strong> <strong>makes your skin glow</strong>, and <strong>leaves you feeling energized.</strong></p>

<p>Once you introduce juice fasting into your life routine, you’ll start  to notice positive changes on all levels of your being. You may feel  more physically energized, more mentally alert, or your moods may be  lighter and brighter.</p>
<p><strong>2. Sweat. </strong>In a sauna (not a steam room — too much chlorine is  in the steam), or a hot yoga class, or in a hot bath followed a  snuggling under warm covers, let yourself sweat. It helps the skin, your  largest organ of detoxification, do its job.</p>
<p><strong>4. Rebound, i.e., bounce on a mini-trampoline. </strong>All exercise is  good, of course, but a mini-tram is supposed to particularly target the  lymphatic system and help it do its clean-up tasks. The lymphatic  system has no pump like the heart, so it can use some help. I do my  5-minute warm-up at the gym on a mini-tram.</p>
<p><strong>5. Scrape your tongue</strong> first thing in the morning. Your body  does a lot of detoxing during sleep, and that coating on your tongue  when you wake up (in Ayurveda, they call it ama, metabolic debris) needs  to come off before your first drink of water. They sell inexpensive  tongue scrapers in the dental care aisle at health food stores and many  drugstores.</p>
<p><strong>6. Use a neti pot. </strong>The yogis have long recommended “sinus  bathing” as a part of enlightened hygiene, and you can purchase a neti  pot (beautiful ceramic ones and low-cost plastic models) at most health  food stores. You fill it with warm water made into a saline solution by  the addition of some finely ground salt and, following instructions, let  the water flow into one nostril and out the other; then do the other  side. This is not always a pleasant experience, but it definitely clears  your head, is a godsend during allergy season, and I swear by it after  plane flights.</p>
<p><strong>7. Dry body brush.</strong> Before your bath or shower, use a special  dry body brush (ask at the health food store: this is a brush with a  removable handle, meant to be used on dry body skin) to buff your skin,  starting with the feet. Then work up, using upward strokes on the calves  and thighs, fingers-to-shoulders moves on your arms, and gentler round  motions on your abdomen, hips, and chest; this is not for the face. It  helps the skin to detox, removes dead skin cells, is warming and  energizing, and in Europe even standard MDs claim that it helps diminish  cellulite.</p>
<p><strong>8. Enemas and colonics. </strong>I include these because they’re  standard-issue detox practices and many, many people swear by them. They  say that we have toxic build-up in the colon that’s been there for  years and needs to be washed out.</p>
<p><strong>9. Get away to somewhere </strong>clean and quiet. By “clean,” I mean  where the air is pure (mountains, ocean) and where  electro-magnetic-field radiation is at a minimum. Some people are  irritated that they can’t get much cell phone reception, but it’s really  a blessing. If you can get away for even one weekend a season, it’ll  help.</p>
<p><strong>10. Eat raw food and think loving thoughts</strong>. Okay, that’s two  suggestions, but seriously: just eating a high-raw, plant-based diet,  even without fasting or a juice diet, will go far toward your  detoxification efforts. If you find yourself having a “detox crisis” —  headaches, fatigue — rest, eat lightly, and let it pass, or rest, eat  more heavily (add in more cooked food), and slow down the detox process  to a comfortable rate. And your thoughts are ever important: make them  loving, to yourself, your body, and everyone in your world. That way,  you detox negativity from deep, deep inside.</p>

<p><strong>Obesity</strong> and <strong>weight gain</strong> is directly related to chemicals and toxins that you’re not getting out of the body. Toxins and chemicals are stored in the fat cells. I haven&#8217;t seen one overweight person or anybody suffering from obesity or weight gain who isn’t completely riddled with heavy metals, chemicals, and all kinds of other toxins in their system.</p>
<p><strong>Dr. Edward F. Group</strong></p>
<p>Most of that is coming in, obviously, through the diet and drinks they’re consuming, the prescription medications they’re on, or something else.</p>
<p>The reason I put <a href="http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/health-products/cpcaff.php?ref=171431&amp;url= http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/liver-and-gallbladder-cleanse.html">cleansing the liver</a> as the most important for weight loss is that the liver is the organ that detoxifies all of the chemicals and toxins that come into the body, and it also helps metabolize fat by producing bile. Bile is actually stored in the gallbladder.</p>
<p>Bile increases the surface tension of the fat molecules that come in or decreases the surface tension so it can work with the enzyme lipase to emulsify the fat at a faster rate. That’s why a lot of people get stuck in the cycle of trying to lose weight.</p>
<p>They can’t lose weight, and they’re trying all these different techniques. It’s because their liver is congested, and the liver becomes fatty.</p>
<p>It starts accumulating a lot of fat. The first thing that I always recommend everybody do if they’re trying to lose weight is to do a liver and gallbladder cleanse. Actually, I recommend they do three of them.</p>
<p>In most cases, after that the liver can start processing and metabolizing fat a lot faster. They can get rid of that fat that they’ve had such a hard time trying to lose.</p>
<p>It’s very simple to realize that when you look at the functions that the liver and the gallbladder do. What amazes me is how simple it is to not only fix weight loss but to fix any degenerative disease. I don’t know why that information isn’t out there. It’s just very simple. <strong>The liver is the main organ that’s going to metabolize your fat and all your toxins.</strong></p>
<p>You would only think that medical professionals and everybody else would be saying weight gain and obesity is directly related to a fatty and malfunctioning liver that’s only functioning at about 10% to 20% capacity. Those individuals keep loading more sugars. It’s like what you talk about a lot: they put more refined sugars and toxins into their body, and their liver is overworked.</p>
<p>It can never catch up with the ability to emulsify and break down the amount of fats that people are putting in and detoxify all the harmful chemicals that are coming in at the same time. It’s basically <strong>overworked and stressed</strong>. It becomes fatty, and that’s what leads to the majority of the weight gain.</p>

<p><strong>Toxic Reason # 1 &#8212; Sugar Leads to Cellular Death:</strong></p>
<p>In 1957, Dr. William Coda Martin published a study on the chemical effects of sugar on the body. In a nutshell, here’s what’s going on&#8230; The process of reﬁning sugar completely drains the sugar of vitamins and minerals. That’s why sugar is said to have nothing but empty calories. When the body tries to digest the reﬁned sugar, it can’t break it down nutritionally. This creates a toxic acid called pyruvic acid. This acid has a lethal effect on our cells. As we learn more and more about why we eat and why we choose the foods we eat, we begin to understand how our emotions play such an instrumental role in our health. roger gould, MD, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA and author of Shrink Yourself: Break Free from Emotional Eating Forever, defines emotional eating as eating to satisfy emotional hunger.</p>
<p><strong>In this fashion,</strong> you use food for comfort or as a way to cope with life. That means you eat for reasons other than what your body needs. We all indulge in emotional eating at one point or another. Reaching for chocolate after a disagreement with your spouse or comforting yourself after a grueling meeting at work with an entire pizza are prime examples of emotional eating.</p>
<p>But when this condition goes too far, it crosses the line into <strong>food addiction,</strong> where you actually lose control over what and how you eat.</p>
<p><strong>Why do We do It? </strong></p>
<p>Dr. Gould points out that all of us have emotional hunger. <strong>The difference between an emotional eater and a non-emotional eater </strong>is how they respond to this hunger. When presented with a challenge, an emotional eater has a knee-jerk reaction to reach for whatever food will offer him or her a moment of comfort.</p>
<p>Our comfort foods are usually not the healthiest choices, including ice cream, refined carbohydrates, heavy pastas and fast food.</p>
<p><strong>Emotional eating happens </strong>without much regard to health, nutrition or even real hunger. In fact, eating is usually hurried, with very little awareness of what is being consumed and, therefore, emotional eaters are more prone to overeating.</p>
<p><strong>Food offers relief from stress or emotional discomfort</strong> and provides a refuge and safety net that we can quickly turn to for solace and security. Food becomes the drug that distracts us from whatever discomfort we are feeling.</p>
<p><strong>The more we emotionally eat,</strong> the less likely we are to focus on the real cause of our unrest. But food is just a temporary bandage. The feeling that drove you to emotionally eat in the first place is still there, and will quickly return. And worst of all, now there are usually new feelings of guilt, remorse, anger and isolation once you realize you’ve been giving in to emotional eating.</p>
