Is Sugar Addictive?

waiter-dessertRaymond Francis, MIT graduate and expert in vitamin science explains sugar’s addictive qualities: “Animal studies show that regular consumption of sugar causes long-lasting changes in brain chemistry, similar to those caused by street drugs such as cocaine or heroin. These changes mean that even a single expo-sure to sweet, salty or fatty foods will change gene expression, stimulating opioids in the brain. These pleasure chemicals are addictive.” READ MORE

The program is perfect for busy people who don’t have time for long and involved detox plan.

A simple detoxification process that will increases that zest for life you’ve been missing lately.

If you have noticed that:

  • Your skin appears pale, dull, and dry,
  • Your eyes are puffy with dark circles under them,
  • Your hair lack luster,
  • You experience frequent bouts of constipation, bloating, flatulence or irritable bowel syndrome,
  • No matter how many hours you spend working out, you still can’t get rid of your extra weight,
  • Your moods swing from up to down in a short period of time,
  • And, you often feel anxious, depressed or overly stressed.

But, that doesn’t mean we have to deprive ourselves. The key is knowing that some of the foods we eat make us sick, and can even eventually, kill us. Experts have known and understood the necessity of a good, healthy diet for centuries

Understanding Crohn’s Disease

CrohnsCrohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease, more commonly known as IBD. It’s caused by an abnormal immune response to bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract.

People suffering from inflammatory bowel disease often experience pain and blockages, which can be extremely serious if not treated immediately.

However, experts have directly linked diet, exercise, and Crohn’s disease.

In addition to milk and dairy products, wheat products, some vegetables such as cabbage, corn, and tomatoes often make symptoms worse. Citrus fruits and eggs are also known to aggravate the condition. How can you achieve relief from Crohn’s disease? READ MORE

Chronic Constipation

Dreamstime_3287620
To understand why chronic constipation is so unhealthy, you first
need to understand what’s going on in your guts – and your colon.
Here’s my “Constipation for Dummies” explanation:

Toxins are formed and absorbed when waste remains in the intestines.
Waste should be eliminated through the bowels on a regular basis – a
healthy colon eliminates waste in 6-18 hours. But the colon can’t do
its job properly if you haven’t given your body the diet it needs to
keep it in tip-top shape. The colon is a natural breeding ground for
bacteria, which is a good thing, because these bacteria neutralize and
prevent a toxic condition from developing in the colon. The problem is,
there are two types of bacteria: the good kind – the healthy,
scavenging variety – and the bad guys – the disease-producing kind. In
a clean, healthy environment, the healthy, scavenging bacteria will
control the bad bacteria. But they can’t do that when your colon is all
plugged up.

And that’s why eating food that is easy to digest will keep your
colon in good working order, which will keep you regular. Not to
mention healthier – and happier!

High-sugar, low-fibre diets that feature refined flour, rice and
pasta are exactly what you want to stay away from to avoid chronic
constipation. These diets are a recipe for sluggish peristaltic
muscles. And you need a smooth rhythmic contraction of muscles to
propel the contents of your stomach through the digestive tract.

Here are some diet recommendations that can keep constipation away: Read More

Major Cause of Overeating

EatingWhen I first started changing my diet years ago, overeating was a daily thing. I couldn’t help myself – I just felt hungry all the time.

This really had me puzzled. Here I was, eating a healthy diet, supposedly getting all the nutrients my body needed, yet I was still feeling hungry. What gives?

Back then, two things were happening:

First, my body actually wasn’t absorbing as many vitamins and minerals as it could – like it does now – because nutritionally, it was building its reserves and getting the toxins out.

Second, and this is a major cause of overeating, there was what I call the psychology factor. Basically, I was just used to my stomach feeling “filled” the way it felt after eating highly processed cooked meals. My brain had no experience with the raw food I had started to feed my body, so it kept sending out signals that I must be hungry, simply because my stomach just didn’t feel the same!

The psychology factor is the reason why we reach for ice cream, or chocolate or apple pie or whatever when we’re stressed or sad – or even happy. They don’t call them comfort foods for nothing!

Getting Serious About It This Time

CoverB
You have 34 days and the chance to really get serious about tackling your diet and look your best for New Years Eve.

At the beginning of the year, most of us start out with great motivation for the goals, dreams, hopes and plans we have for the coming year. Whether it is losing ten pounds, nixing sugar, quitting smoking or exercising more, most New Years resolutions are focused on becoming healthier.

Then, before you know it, the year has come to a close and those well-intentioned resolutions you made on January 1st fizzled out before Valentine’s Day.

So what if you didn’t lose the weight or start the exercise program or follow that healthy eating program for the past 365 days?

It’s not too late.

From my experience I can tell you that most of the work on A project gets done during the last 20 percent of the time set. It’s the power of the deadline. Which I’ve mastered this one… my husband would say:) I’m really good at this!

That’s right.
The power of the deadline is a tremendous motivating factor in finally getting the project signed, sealed and delivered.

So, set yourself a new deadline – December 31, 2008- and get rolling- don’t make the mistake waiting for January 1st to plan for you New Year resolution: You can do this NOW.

Rather than looking back on 2008 as a year in which your resolutions came and went unfulfilled, I have a program that you can start today that will end this year for you on a high note.

This past October, I hosted an online class called Super Cleanse! Detox Your Body for Health and Beauty based on my new 7-day Sugar-Free Diet.

I am pleased to say that most of the people who enrolled in this challenging but rewarding course were more than pleased with the results.

Here is a snapshot of some of the success stories from the course: Click Here

The beauty of this program is that you can use it anytime of the year! You don’t have to wait until January 1st. In fact, if you’re New Years resolution last year was to get in shape, you still have over a month left to fulfill this promise!

Check it out! Here’s the link to buy your ticket to a Better You. Today.
