Congratulation!! Nicole,  shawna, Betty Ann

1st, place winner: Nicole Gaudreau from Acton, Ontario

I complained about having a sore back last summer.  I was diagnosed with lower back arthritis this Spring.  Thankfully, I got the right treatment and I have no more pain.  However, my husband was proactive and started building those wonderful boxes for the garden.  We started with 4, then added 2 more.  Next summer, no more bending over in the garden.  We will have 10 to 12 boxes in the garden.  Everything grew very well, no pesticide or chemical products.

Nicole will get an Autographed Artwork print Portrait drawn  by Linda Montgomery: My favorite Artist!

3rd Place: Betty Ann Dalton- Nova Scotia

I don’t garden in small spaces specifically because I have a small space… we live on an acre in rural Nova Scotia.  I have several neuromuscular problems which have limited my mobility significantly.  So, my husband helped me set up an herb garden on the corner of our very small deck.  While it’s compact, it holds all my cooking herbs plus mint and lemon balm for garden fresh tea.  Very accessible and easily tended, as the pots are setting on a metal plant stand with space for potting soil and tools at the bottom.
He also build me two raised gardens from recycled wood products…. raised garden2 from a two sets of louvred bifold doors for the 6 ft sides and the ends from a discarded hollow core door. (we love to recycle)  Raised garden1 is from 2 sets of window shutter with plywood ends.  We have a flock of backyard chickens so compost is not difficult to find to fill the boxes.
One of my deck herb garden and one of each of the raised gardens.  raised box 1 is zucchini and watermelon plants.  raised box 2 is my salad garden:2 varieties of lettuce, swiss chard, a basil bush and tomatoes.
