Where did last year go….

En route to Albuquerque, New Mexico with my husband!
We spent the last 3 days in Georgetown, Ontario with friends! We left early Today and will stop in Cincinnati overnight to visit our friends Linda and John until January 1st.

Will continuing with our
journey. We have another 3 day’s drive to Albuquerque, and then I'll
take a few days to settle down. Then, it will be back on the swing with
new projects for the New Year!

We’ll be stationed in that area of New Mexico for 3 months. I'll continue with business as  usual and take this opportunity to learn more about the new area I’ll be living in and work at the same time.

As
an added bonus, I did spot a whole food market and many yoga studios
and lots of steaming, mineral hot springs in the area!

I'll keep in touch and send you announcements regarding our new schedule for teleclasses soon.

Okay, another year gone. Where did last year go….

Did you accomplish everything that you wanted.

Well,
guess what- It’s a NEW YEAR, again. What should be your first order of
business for this year. You got it – throw away your New Year’s
resolutions. That’s right, throw ‘em away. They never pan out anyway.
All they manage to do is make you feel like a flake if you don’t get to
them.

Sure, we all try to turn over a new leaf every year -
lose weight, stop smoking, go out with the hubby or wife every week for
a ‘date’ or take the kids to the park every Saturday morning. But life
has a way of sidetracking even the best of intentions. Work beckons.
Bills need to be paid. The dates and the excursions to the park start
slipping by the wayside. The gym becomes a chore and not a goal. And
smoking- Forget it.

Figure out why you need to lose weight, and then create a personal strategy to change the root cause of your dissatisfaction.

For example, if your resolution is to lose weight or lose 20 pounds (which it probably is), first you must identify how you got to this point in the first place.

Here are some of the most common factors that tend to appear:

  • I eat the wrong foods
  • I drink too much soda
  • I eat too much junk food
  • I don’t exercise

Cut
out a few things at a time. Be specific – and realistic. Don’t try to
quit every bad habit you have cold-turkey or you’ll only be setting
yourself up for failure.

Here are a few specific ways to wean yourself into a more healthy mode of eating:

  • Lose the McD’s biscuits every morning.
  • One
small soda a day for two weeks, then cut back to every other day, then
every three days, until you’re down to one soda a week. Then “treat”
yourself to a soda once a month for six months.
  • Indulge in your fast food lunch only one day a week, then one day a month… and then you’ll be able to quit them altogether.
  • At
the gym, start with a three-day workout: like Monday, Wednesday, and
Saturday. As you start to feel better, you’ll want to go more often.
    Really!

I don’t want to burst your New Year's Day
bubble  but let’s be honest here. You have an opportunity to achieve
your goals, but you also need to be real with yourself. Create your New
Year’s resolutions with specific points of attack and not broad
statements that tend to be ignored because they’re unreasonable.

The more specific you make  your goals, the more likely you are to make them happen.

But you’ve gotta have the will to get there. You have to WANT to change. They have to be YOUR reasons, not someone else’s.

Don’t
sabotage your goals before you even get started. Find the will to
achieve your goals, one small step at a time. If you’re not willing to
make sacrifices, then you’re not going to succeed in your goals. If
you’re not willing to put your heart into your efforts to change, then
you’re going to be repeating this year’s resolutions again next year.

  • Are you willing to make a change
  • Are you willing to make the effort or sacrifice to change
  • Are you willing to better yourself
  • Are you willing to work hard to achieve your goals
  • Are you willing to get up earlier, eat less or exercise harder to meet your goals

Therefore, your own willingness creates your will to change. One step at a time – you can do it!

Happy New Year!
I’m looking forward to Attracting great things together in 2009.

Best wishes,

Nancy
