10 Reasons Why You Should Eat Chia Seeds

1. If you’re craving, reach for the chia.

Your body is great at telling you something, especially if you’re deficient in certain minerals or vitamins. Your body can send you on a mission to the kitchen, as you crave foodstuffs that will make up for the particular deficiency.

Unfortunately, this can often lead to you eating the wrong foods and/or too much of the wrong thing, especially if you are on a selective diet of some kind.

Did you know that this will give you more calcium than if you drank a glass of milk? Using chia on a regular basis can be great all around, as it has more boron, magnesium and a host of trace minerals that will help you absorb your essential vitamins.

2. Feeling sleepy? – It’s your diet! If you’re constantly feeling tired and always want to lay down and take a quick nap, you may not be eating the right things. Your energy level is directly affected by what you intake. A lot of what we ingest these days is inferior or does not have the correct composition of protein and does not give us, consequently, the right amount of benefit.

Chia is one of nature’s best solutions when it comes to the intake of protein, as it has a complete balance to boost your energy levels. Don’t think that this energy comes in sharp spikes, either, as you will never be left feeling wiry. Take onboard your vitamins, minerals and balancing gel as part of a complete protein package.

3. Fight the free radicals! Antioxidants are very important in preventing damage to our body caused by free radicals. These villains of the peace can really do a number on our bodies, leading to a number of different illnesses, premature aging and inflammation. We need something to fight off the free radicals and antioxidants have been proven to be effective.

Healthcare providers preach at us to get the correct amount of antioxidants on a daily basis, but they seem to only be available in hard to get exotic fruits or expensive berries or other solutions. Chia, on the other hand, is very high in antioxidants and is not difficult to come across. Chia seeds stay fresh and available to eat for long periods of time when stored at room temperature.

Did you know that they can last for over two years without any preservative whatsoever and you cannot say that about other, more well-known seeds, which simply do not have the antioxidants?

4. Lose the hunger pangs. For the first time, you can really lose weight without battling those pangs of hunger all the time. The chia seed is just perfect to help you with your battle; when water is added to them they increase in size, as the water forms a gel coating. This action makes you feel full and you will not want to eat, as the effects can last for hours.

Don’t worry about additional calories, as the gel is water-based – this amazing seed will help you handle those hunger cravings and not add any calories either.

5. Omega-3! Many of us love to eat fish on a regular basis, but it’s difficult and not palatable to include it every day in your diet. Also, you may be a vegetarian or may be concerned about how certain farmers cultivate the fish before they make it available for your dinner table. If you avoid fish altogether, you might not get enough omega-3 oil, which is a great supplement for your diet.

The good news is that chia, a plant-based source, is a great place to find your omega-3. Look after your heart and help to reduce your cholesterol by turning to chia rather than salmon. Quite apart from its benefits for your long-term health prognosis, it seems that omega-3 can also help you to lose weight. Many studies now show that overweight people significantly help their problem by including omega-3 on a regular basis.

6. Avoid the rollercoaster. Do you go through the day feeling peaks and troughs, one second full of energy and the next just ready to go to sleep? This has much to do with your blood sugar and imbalance caused when you eat those naughty sweets and starchy, complex foods.

The western diet is the culprit here and we all know this feeling. It can be bad for you though and if you don’t control it you can put yourself at elevated risk of type 2 diabetes.

You need to balance out your food intake as you digest it and the chia seed has been proven to help convert the food into a steady delivery of energy rather than those peaks and troughs.

The seed is made up of soluble and insoluble fiber and when combined with the gelling action that results when you swallow the seed, the processes are balanced out and sugar creation is leveled.

7. Fight off those illnesses.

We all eat too many convenience foods and rely on processed, boxed or canned products and a lot of flour. We tend to overlook the importance of fiber but should not, as it can lead to problematic health conditions, such as diverticulitis or diverticulosis.

You need to have regular bowel movements and fiber helps this a lot. In addition, you should make sure that you get a lot of both soluble and insoluble fiber. While you might not want to turn to bran flakes all the time, chia seeds are coated with soluble fibers.

The outside of the seed, on the other hand has an insoluble fiber that is not able to be digested, so it helps keep food moving down through your digestive tract. Gel coating of the seed helps to ensure food moves easily as it is processed.

8. Save more money.

If you’re serious about your diet, you should know that some of those special “box” plans can really run up your bill, sometimes to well over $100 a week. Diet pills are even more expensive and so, even though you are eating less, you are spending more.

Don’t be fooled into buying individual portions either as they cost more per portion due to the additional work that goes into producing them. Buy chia for a whole month, and you can expect to pay less than a dollar a day!

Remember that these super seeds are grown naturally and you can use as few or as many as you want to achieve the result desired. You don’t need to worry about reading the ingredients on the box either, as they are 100% free of chemicals and safe for you at all times. This really is the answer and it doesn’t get any easier than this!

9. Add additional flavor to foods.

It’s a little known fact that when chia seeds hydrate they can actually intensify the flavor and taste of whatever they have been added to. This is great when you are trying to flavor some bland foods and are trying to avoid some of the regular additives.

It’s amazing that the chia seed, which has no flavor, can do this but you can add them to whatever you like and they will distribute and enhance the flavor and never dilute the pleasure. Go ahead and sprinkle them on whatever you are in the mood for and don’t forget dressings, sauces and dips.

10. Substitute the fat and retain the taste.

If you’re an avid cook, you’ll undoubtedly like to bake goods at home but not be too happy about the oil and fatty-based products that you have to put in. Why not substitute chia? The food will taste the same and you will not have to change your baking process. Just pitch half of the fatty oil and use chia gel to make up the numbers.

Then go to a favorite recipe and you can be sure that the antioxidants in the chia will enable you to keep your masterpiece fresh for much longer.
